NHL: Colorado 3, Dallas 2 (2OT)

DALLAS, April 14 (UPI) -- Marek Svatos scored his first career playoff goal 5:18 into double overtime Wednesday night, giving Colorado a 3-2 victory over Dallas.

The Avalanche grabbed a 3-1 advantage in their quarterfinal series.

A veteran of four regular-season and four playoff games, Svatos carried the puck through the neutral zone and into the left faceoff circle.

The 21-year-old Slovakian got help from Milan Hejduk, who drew defenseman Sergei Zubov out of his shooting lane, then wristed a shot that fluttered by the glove of goaltender Marty Turco.

Svatos' heroics came two nights after Steve Ott breathed life into the Stars by scoring his first career post-season goal 2:11 into overtime.

But David Aebischer made 41 saves for his first career playoff overtime win and Hejduk and Riku Hahl had the other goals for Colorado, which can end the series at home on Saturday.

For the second game in a row, Dallas rallied in the third period to force overtime. Pierre Turgeon's shot from the high slot hit defenseman Bob Boughner and knuckled past Aebischer with 8:46 to go in regulation.
