LUBBOCK, Texas, April 13 (UPI) -- Texas Tech has given football Coach Mike Leach a three year contract extension through 2008.

Leach will make more than $1 million a season.

His Red Raider teams have gone to bowl games in each of his three seasons as coach. His overall Tech record is 22-16.

"I am pleased that Mike has signed an extension to his contract to coach the Red Raiders through the 2008 season," Athletic Director Gerald Myers said Monday. "Mike has done an outstanding job of building an exciting program for students, alumni and fans."

The Red Raiders beat Army in the Houston Bowl last season.
