MLB: Chicago Cubs 10, Atlanta 2

ATLANTA, April 11 (UPI) -- Kerry Wood struck out 11 over seven innings and Michael Barrett drove in four runs Sunday as the Chicago Cubs routed the Atlanta Braves, 10-2.

Wood (2-0) had nine strikeouts through five innings, including seven in a row at one point to tie a club record set by Mark Prior on Aug. 15, 2002 against Houston.

The hard-throwing righthander finished with his 38th career double-digit strikeout game. Wood allowed one run and five hits and walked three.

Wood allowed three runs while striking out 18 in 15 1/3 innings against Atlanta in last season's Division Series.

Barrett had a sacrifice fly in the second inning and added a three-run homer in the eighth. Corey Patterson, Alex Gonzalez and Moises Alou also homered for the Cubs.

Russ Ortiz (0-2) gave up four runs and eight hits in seven innings. Reliever Will Cunnane allowed six runs and six hits in two innings.
