Transplant surgeon Dr. Jeffery Steers reported no complications during the 2 1/2-hour procedure and the 73-year-old Summerall is in stable condition in the hospital's intensive care unit, hospital spokeswoman Evelyn Tovar said.
Summerall had been on the waiting list for a liver since April 2. He became the 66th patient this year to receive a transplant at the hospital.
Summerall spent time at the Betty Ford Clinic in 1992 after years of heavy drinking.
Summerall called more than 1,000 NFL games in a career that started on CBS and ended on the Fox Network in 2002. In 1993, he was presented with an Emmy award for lifetime achievement followed a year later by the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award.
