MILWAUKEE, April 10 (UPI) -- Andy Pettitte, who had a rough outing in his debut with the Houston Astros, on Saturday went on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left elbow.
The move was retroactive to Wednesday, the day after Pettitte made his first National League start.

In Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants, Pettitte gave up six runs and 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings. The lefthander apparently suffered the injury while batting.
The 31-year-old Pettitte had an MRI Thursday at Methodist Hospital in Houston and it revealed inflammation and a strain in his elbow.
Pettitte signed a three-year, $31.5 million contract with the Astros in December after spending nine seasons with the New York Yankees.
