Maine, Denver reach hockey final

BOSTON, April 8 (UPI) -- Maine advanced to the NCAA hockey title game Thursday night with a 2-1 triumph over Boston College as Dustin Penner scored early in the third period.

It was the eighth straight one-goal win for the Black Bears (33-7-3), who will play Denver for the championship after the Pioneers scored four times in the third period and rallied for a 5-3 victory over Minnesota-Duluth.

Denver's Lukas Dora atoned for an earlier mistake when he snapped a 3-3 tie with 11:35 to go in the third period.

A native of the Czech Republic, Dora was whistled for kneeing with 5:42 left in the second period. The penalty led to Junior Lessard's second goal of the game and a 3-1 lead for Minnesota-Duluth.

Brett Skinner had two assists and Adam Berkhoel made 26 saves for Denver (26-12-5), which advanced to the championship game for the first time since 1973.
