MLB: Detroit 6, Toronto 3

TORONTO, April 7 (UPI) -- Jeremy Bonderman settled down after allowing a three-run home run to Carlos Delgado in the first inning Wednesday night as Detroit downed Toronto, 6-3.

The Tigers completed a three-game sweep of the Blue Jays.

Bonderman surrendered three runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings with two walks and eight strikeouts. After giving up the homer to Delgado, he held the Blue Jays hitless until yielding an infield single to Vernon Wells in the sixth.

Bonderman (1-0) was lifted after Wells' line drive struck him on the right ankle.

The Tigers, who lost an American League-record 119 games last season, are off to their first 3-0 start since 1985.

Delgado's homer, his first hit of the season, gave the Blue Jays a 3-0 lead, but his two-out error triggered a four-run rally for the Tigers in the second. Eric Munson's three-run shot gave Detroit a 4-3 lead.
