NHL: Nashville 2, Colorado 1 (OT)

DENVER, April 4 (UPI) -- David Legwand scored 32 seconds into overtime Sunday as Nashville concluded its most successful regular season with a 2-1 win over Colorado.

Nashville clinched its first playoff berth Saturday when the Edmonton Oilers were beaten by the Vancouver Canucks. But the Predators posted their fourth straight road victory on Legwand's fifth game-winner.

Legwand passed to Dan Hamhuis. The rookie defenseman had his backhander blocked in front, but the puck caromed to Legwand, who wristed it off the right goalpost and goaltender Tommy Salo for his 18th goal.

Scott Hartnell had the other tally for the Predators, who face top-seeded Detroit in the Western Conference quarterfinals.

Rookie defenseman John-Michael Liles scored in the first period, but Colorado lost star left wing Paul Kariya to an apparent right knee injury late in the third. The Avalanche will have home-ice advantage for their first-round series against Dallas.
