MULTAN, Pakistan, April 1 (UPI) -- India's Irfan Pathan dispatched Yousuf Yohana back to the pavilion in his first over Thursday to give India its first ever test match victory in Pakistan.

India defeated Pakistan by an innings and 52 runs in the first test match played at Multan.

Stand-in skipper Rahul Dravid lapped up a catch from Yohana within minutes of the start of play on the last day of the five-day match. Pakistan were all out in the second innings for 216 runs.

Earlier, India had scored a mammoth 675 runs for the loss of five wickets and declared their first innings. Virender Sehwag became India's first triple centurion by hitting 309 runs.

Pakistan scored 407 runs in the first innings and were first to follow-on. In the second innings, ace leg spinner Anil Kumble shattered the Pakistani battling order claiming six wickets.

This is the Indian cricket team's first tour of Pakistan in 15 years and its only test win in Pakistan in its long history.

"Yes, there have been some fine achievements in the past two years but this one is special. It has a bit of history to it and the boys wanted it," Indian coach John Wright said.

The remaining two test matches of the series will be held in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
