NHL: Minnesota 5, Colorado 4 (OT)

ST. PAUL, Minn., March 31 (UPI) -- Marc Chouinard scored 53 seconds into overtime Wednesday night as Minnesota squandered a two-goal lead before pulling out a 5-4 win over Colorado.

Trying to hold off Vancouver and win a record 10th straight division title, the Avalanche erased a 4-2 deficit in the final 8:31 of the third period.

Rookie defenseman John-Michael Liles scored the tying goal with 69 seconds left after goaltender Tommy Salo was pulled for an extra attacker.

In overtime, Chouinard put a rebound past Salo for his second goal of the game. That gave Minnesota its first win in 24 overtime contests this season (1-3-20).

Peter Forsberg had a goal and two assists for Colorado, which began the night one point in front of second-place Vancouver in the Northwest Division.
