TAMPA, Fla., March 29 (UPI) -- Defenseman Chris Phillips scored with a minute left in overtime Monday night, giving Ottawa a wild 5-4 victory over Tampa Bay.
Following a turnover by defenseman Darryl Sydor in Tampa Bay's zone, Daniel Alfredsson threw a cross-ice pass from the right boards to the left point.
From there, Phillips unleashed a slap shot that beat goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin.
The teams traded the lead three times -- all in the third period. They combined for four goals in the final 3:12 of regulation.
Marian Hossa and Mike Fisher scored 98 seconds apart in the third for Ottawa, which tied Philadelphia for third-best points total in the Eastern Conference.
Dave Andreychuk scored twice in the last 3:12 of the final period for Tampa Bay, tying it with 28 seconds left.
Cory Stillman and defenseman Dan Boyle also scored for the conference-leading Lightning, who picked up a point but fell one behind Detroit in the race for the Presidents' Trophy.
