The American-trained horse won in a fierce battle down the home stretch in Nad Al Sheba with favorite Medaglia D'Oro, the BBC reported Saturday. South African-trained Victory Moon won third place.

Pleasantly Perfect's trainer Richard Mandella had narrowly missed out in three previous Dubai World Cups.

However, Pleasantly Perfect also beat out Medaglia D'Oro into second place in the 2003 Breeders' Cup Classic in the United States.
