Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

AUBURN, Ala., March 26 (UPI) -- Joe Ciampi, who coached the Auburn women's basketball team for a quarter-century, is retiring.
"Auburn is truly a special place but I feel like it is time for a change for both Auburn and Joe Ciampi," he said Thursday.
Ciampi took the Auburn job in 1979 after two years at Army. His career record is 607-213.
Auburn made 16 NCAA Tournament appearances under Ciampi, who was named National Coach of the Year three times.
The Tigers had at least 20 wins in 18 of Ciampi's 25 years. They were 22-9 this season.
"Joe Ciampi has had an outstanding career here," Athletic Director David Housel said. He has left a lasting legacy in Auburn's athletic program and it extends far beyond women's basketball."
