COL BKB: Hawaii 84, Nebraska 83

HONOLULU, March 23 (UPI) -- The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors advanced to the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament with a 84-83 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Jason Carter logged 21, Jeff Blackett added 17 points and Julian Sensley chipped in 13 for Hawaii (19-12), which survived a see-saw battle that featured 17 3-pointers.

The Rainbow Warriors led most of the way, building a 49-30 cushion on a dunk by Blackett 84 seconds before halftime. But a 20-2 surge closed Nebraska within 51-50 with 16:17 to play.

After Michael Kuebler missed a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left, the Cornhuskers had two chances to tie it. But Marcus Neal Jr. and Brian Conklin both missed 3-pointers.

Kuebler scored 12 points for the Warriors, who shot 60 percent from the field (30-of-50).

Conklin finished with 24 points for Nebraska, which shot 55 percent (32-of-58).

Hawaii visits Michigan Wednesday.
