NAMPA, Idaho, March 20 (UPI) -- Aaron Haynes scored 20 points Saturday as Boise State held off Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 73-70, in a first-round National Invitation Tournament matchup.

The Broncos (23-9) play at Marquette in a second-round contest on Tuesday.

Haynes scored 12 points in the first half to help Boise State take a 44-32 advantage into the break. The Broncos held a 71-67 lead after Haynes sank a pair of free throws with 45 seconds left, but the Panthers pulled within 71-70 on a 3-pointer by Ed McCants with 30 seconds to play.

After Coby Karl made two free throws to make it 73-70 with 15 seconds left, Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Chris Hill missed a layup with three seconds remaining.

Dylan Page had 23 points to pace the Panthers (20-11), the Horizon League regular-season champions who were playing in the NIT for the first time.
