Lee shoots 60 in LPGA opener

TUCSON, March 11 (UPI) -- Jung Yeon Lee shot a 10-under-par 60 Thursday and grabbed a three-shot lead after one round of the Welch's Fry's Championship.

This is the opening event of the LPGA season.

Lee had two eagles and six birdies at the Dell Urich Course to match the course record set last year by Meg Mallon. Kristi Albers also shot 10-under in 1998 when the course was a par-72 layout.

A 25-year-old who was born in London and lives in Orlando, Lee had a chance to match the LPGA-record 59 Annika Sorenstam shot in 2001. But her birdie putt at the 18th hole barely missed.

Karen Stupples was alone in second at 63 and Laura Davies shared third place with a 65.
