Kings get Cowan from Thrashers for Brennan

LOS ANGELES, March 9 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Kings dealt Tuesday at the NHL trade deadline, acquiring Jeff Cowan from the Atlanta Thrashers for Kip Brennan in a swap of left wings.

Cowan, 27, has played 58 games this season, recording career highs with nine goals and 15 assists.

Brennan, a 23-year-old rookie, had one goal and 79 penalty minutes in 18 games with Atlanta. He also played two games with Manchester of the American Hockey League.

The Kings also activated defensemen Aaron Miller, Jason Holland and Scott Barney from injured reserve and assigned Barney, defenseman Tim Gleason and center Michael Cammalleri to Manchester.

Miller, 32, missed 39 games with a pinched nerve in his neck and shoulder. He also missed the first eight games of the season while recovering from a fractured left wrist and has a goal and two assists in 20 contests.
