RENO, Nev., March 9 (UPI) -- Cary Groth is the new athletic director at the University of Nevada.

Groth was named Monday to succeed Chris Ault, who left the job to coach the school's football team.

Groth has been the athletic director at Northern Illinois since 1994.

"I am excited to have Cary accept this important leadership position in the university," Nevada president John Lilley said. "She is only one of five female athletics directors in the country among the NCAA's major programs and has built a reputation for her integrity and support of the student-athlete model during her years at Northern Illinois."
