Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Guards Aaron McKie, Eric Snow and Willie Green were solid
Sunday as shorthanded Philladelphia posted an 81-74 victory over Minnesota.
Playing without top scorers Allen Iverson and Glenn Robinson for the second straight game, the 76ers snapped a four-game losing streak by holding the Timberwolves to one basket in the final 4 1/2 minutes.
McKie scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting, his best game since scoring 24 vs. Boston on Dec, 21. Snow had 13 points and seven assists and Green, a rookie, contributed 10 points off the bench.
The Sixers were clinging to a 73-72 lead and forced a turnover. Snow dribbled into the frontcourt and threaded a perfect long bounce pass between defenders to rookie Kyle Korver, who scooped in a layup with 1:31 remaining.
Kenny Thomas had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Sixers. Kevin Garnett had 27 points, 13 rebounds and five assists for the Timberwolves.
