Claxton out for three weeks

OAKLAND, Calif., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- The Golden State Warriors announced Friday that Speedy Claxton would be sidelined at least three weeks with a fractured right hand.

Claxton suffered the injury in the opening minutes of Wednesday night's 99-92 victory at Memphis. Despite the injury, Claxton remained in the contest and poured in a career-high 28 points.

Signed as a free agent after helping the San Antonio Spurs to the NBA title last season, Claxton is averaging a career-best 10.5 points and 4.4 assists in 55 games.

A career backup, Claxton has been starting over Nick Van Exel, guiding the Warriors to a 15-14 record. Golden State is 25-31 and in fifth place in the Pacific Division.
