NHL: Vancouver 4, Detroit 2

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Daniel Sedin scored four times as the Vancouver Canucks posted a 4-2 triumph over the Detroit Red Wings.

Coming in with three straight losses at home and with captain Markus Naslund sidelined with a concussion, the Canucks were able to turn things around against the Western Conference's top team.

Sedin has 12 goals in his last 22 games and his big night gave him 16 this season, two more than last season. He helped move the Canucks to within three points of first-place Colorado in the Northwest Division.

Sedin recorded Vancouver's first four-goal game since Naslund accomplished the feat against Pittsburgh Dec. 9. He opened the scoring 12:33 into the game and forged a 2-2 tie 9:43 into the second period.

In the third, Sedin snapped the tie with 6:58 remaining. He completed his huge night with an empty-net goal.

Henrik Zetterberg and Kris Draper scored power-play goals for the Red Wings, who fell to 7-2-2 in their last 11 contests.
