KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand hit an ace in the final round and won the Malaysian Open Sunday -- his first victory on the European Tour.
Jaidee finished the tournament with a 14-under-par 274, two shots ahead of Australian Brad Kennedy.
It was the third title in six tournaments for the 34-year-old Jaidee. He won the Myanmar Open a week earlier and the Volvo Asian Masters in December.
"This week has been very big, very exciting," Jaidee said. "Now it is live on television in Thailand and I am very happy."
Jaidee's hole-in-one came on the 188-yard 16th hole.
"I hit the shot with a bit of draw. You can't see the green from the tee and I was just trying to get it on the green," Jaidee said.
The $201,000 first prize was the largest he has ever won.
Kennedy had a chance to catch Jaidee but bogeyed the final hole.
Thomas Levet of France and Thailand's Prayad Marksaeng and Chawalit Plapholt tied for third.
