NBA fines Payton, Claxton for fighting

NEW YORK, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Guards Gary Payton of the Los Angeles Lakers and Speedy Claxton of Golden State were fined by the NBA Friday for fighting in a game.

The league fined Payton $15,000 and Claxton $7,500 for the altercation in a game won by the Lakers Wednesday night, 100-99.

The two players collided in the third quarter and ended up in a wrestling match, with Claxton being pushed onto the scorer's table. Officials and other players separated the the two and both were ejected from the game.
