MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Left-hander Johan Santana will get $1.6 million this year from the Minnesota Twins, nearly a million dollars less than he wanted.
That was the decision, announced Friday, in Santana's arbitration case,

Santana, who started last season as a relief pitcher and became a starter, had sought $2.45 million.
Although he lost the arbitration case, Santana, who was 12-3, still gets a big pay raise. He made $335.000 in 2003.
"It's just a disagreement over an amount we thought he should ultimately make," Twins General Manager Terry Ryan said. "They thought we filed too low a number and we thought they filed too high. Sometimes, you have to go through the process."
