Austria's Renate Goetschl, Paerson's rival in the overall points race, was 2.05 seconds off the pace in third place.

Sarah Schleper of the United States was fifth, while Jessica Kelley earned her first World Cup points in 27th place.

Nicole Hosp is the only skier with a mathematical chance to catch Paerson for the giant slalom crown, but the Austrian will miss the last two giant slalom events with a broken ankle.

Paerson has 1,120 points, 12 more than Goetschl in the overall World Cup standings. The Swede also is tops in the slalom standings, while Goetschl is the leader for the downhill crown and second in Super-G.
