Three St. John's players suspended

JAMAICA, N.Y., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Three St. John's basketball players were suspended Thursday following an incident after Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh.

Sophomore and leading-scorer Elijah Ingram and seniors Abraham Keita and Grady Reynolds were suspended by the school for "violation of team rules and behavior inconsistent with St. John's mission and values."

The school began an investigation following allegations made against several members of the team. The Pittsburgh Police Department also is investigation an incident that occurred after the Red Storm's 71-51 loss to Pittsburgh.

Police in Pittsburgh have not filed any charges, but the school said it made its decision on "facts we have confirmed." The school did not rule out that further disciplinary action.

St. John's, which is 5-14 this season, fired Coach Mike Jarvis on Dec. 19.

Senior guard Willie Shaw was suspended on Nov. 26 after being arrested for possession of marijuana. He was eventually dismissed from the team.
