INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- The Indiana Fever acquired Kelly Miller from Charlotte Thursday along with a first-round pick in exchange for a first-round and second-round choice.
Miller averaged 5.6 points for the Sting last season and was the league's fourth-best three-point shooter at 42.3 percent. She led the league by shooting 47 percent from beyond the arc in 2002 and served as a backup to veteran guards Dawn Staley and Andrea Stinson.
Chosen second in the 2001 WNBA draft, one pick ahead of Fever All-Star Tamika Catchings, the 5-10 Miller becomes the fifth former first-round pick on the roster.
By sending Miller to the Fever, the Sting will have four of the first 35 picks in the draft. They will have the third, 18th, 22nd and 35th selections in the three-round draft held in mid-April.
