A transfer from West Point, where he played the last two seasons, the 6-8, 220-pound Wallace was sitting out this season as per NCAA requirements.

Wallace's teammates were en route to Saturday's game with Southeastern Louisiana, but returned to the school. The game was postponed indefinitely.

"Basketball fades into the background when a tragedy such as this occurs," Southeastern Louisiana Coach Billy Kennedy said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the young man's family and the entire Stephen F. Austin community."
