Kansas Coach Washington on medical leave

LAWRENCE, Kan., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Longtime Kansas women's basketball Coach Marian Washington is on a medical leave of absence and Lynette Woodard is the team's interim coach.

In a news release from the school Thursday, Washington said she needed "to address some medical issues" but gave no details.

Washington is in her 31st season with the Jayhawks. Her teams have won seven Big 12 Conference titles.

Woodard has been a Jayhawk assistant.
