Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

HOUSTON, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway is among the favorites to be chosen Saturday for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The hall's board of selectors will pick three to six 2004 enshrinees from a list of 15 finalists.
Another favorite is Barry Sanders, the NFL's third all-time leading rusher. Elway and Sanders, who was a star with the Detroit Lions, are both in their first year of eligibility for the hall.
The other finalists are Bob Brown, Richard Dent, Carl Eller, Cliff Harris, Bob Hayes, Lester Hayes, Bob Kuechenberg, Jim Marshall, Art Monk, Rayfield Wright and Gary Zimmerman.
