RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Buffalo Sabres left wing Eric Boulton separated his shoulder Sunday in a fight with Jesse Boulerice of the Carolina Hurricanes.

He will be sidelined indefinitely.

Boulton and Boulerice began slugging it out 4:47 into Buffalo's 4-2 victory. Boulerice whipped his smaller combatant around and Boulton dropped to the ice in obvious pain.

The 6-foot, 224-pound Boulton did not return. He has just one assist with 53 penalty minutes and a minus-2 rating in 29 games this season -- his fourth in the NHL.

Boulerice was called for roughing later in the game, giving him a team-high 87 penalty minutes.
