NHL: San Jose 2, Colorado 1

DENVER, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Nils Ekman scored the go-ahead goal just 15 seconds into the third period Saturday as San Jose continued its roll with a 2-1 victory over Colorado.

While they didn't have to face superstar Peter Forsberg, itwas a big win for the Sharks, who defeated Western Conference powers Vancouver and Colorado in consecutive games and host Detroit on Monday.

Vesa Toskala made 32 saves for San Jose.

Forsberg sat out after tweaking a nagging groin problem. Avalanche left wing Alex Tanguay missed about half of the game with an undisclosed injury, returning in the third period.

John-Michael Liles scored a power-play goal for Colorado.
