COL BKB: Pittsburgh 74, Notre Dame 71

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Jaron Brown had 19 points and Julius Page 18 Monday as No. 15 Pittsburgh beat Notre Dame, 74-71, to extend the nation's top winning streak to 17 games.

Carl Krauser added 15 points and Chevy Troutman 10 for the Panthers (17-0), who also ran the country's longest home winning streak to 36 games.

The Panthers were clinging to a 67-66 lead when Page was fouled attempting a 3-pointer with 50 seconds left. After making the first attempt, Page missed the next two, but Troutman tipped the rebound of the third shot to him and he was fouled. Page split the pair to make it 69-66, but after Notre Dame's Chris Thomas missed a 3-pointer, Chris Taft sank a pair from the line to extend Pitt's advantage to 71-66 with 25 seconds left.
