NHL: San Jose 5, Atlanta 2

SAN JOSE, Fla., Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Patrick Marleau scored his team-leading 19th goal and had an assist Saturday as the San Jose Sharks posted a 5-2 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Marleau scored the Sharks' fourth goal with eight minutes remaining on a backhander after a scramble outside the crease. His assist on the opening goal by Alex Korolyuk just over two minutes into the game was his 300th NHL point.

The Sharks have not lost in regulation on home ice since a 4-3 setback to Colorado on Nov. 11.

Rookie Niko Dimitrakos also scored a goal and picked up an assist. With 6:40 left in th opening period, Dimitrakos put a backhander in the upper left corner to make it 3-0.

Nils Ekman had scored his 11th goal less than 10 minutes earlier. Defenseman Mike Rathje scored his first goal of the season into an empty net with five seconds left.
