Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Houston Nutt announced that he would remain football coach at Arkansas.
He had been courted by Nebraska and sent a plane to Little Rock for a flight to Lincoln to finalize the deal.
""The bottom line came down to this, when the Nebraska school plane was here, I couldn't take my family and get on that plane," Nutt said at a news conference. "My heart was here. Arkansas is a special place. I love it. I love that helmet. And I need two or three more recruits in the state to come join me right now."
"He is the best man for the job," said Arkansas Athletic Director Frank Broyles. "We are very pleased that he is going to stay. (He) is a great ambassador for the University and the state."
Nutt is 48-27 at Arkansas, which was 9-4 this season and beat Northwestern in the Independence Bowl.
Nebraska fired Frank Solich on Nov. 30, despite a 58-19 record.
