NBA: Seattle 111, Los Angeles Lakers 109

SEATTLE, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Ray Allen made a layup with eight seconds remaining Friday night to give Seattle a 111-109 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Allen also made a three-point shot with 39 seconds remaining to put the SuperSonics in front by three, but Kobe Bryant answered with a long-range shot of his own 17 seconds later.

After Allen's game-winning shot, Bryant missed a three-point effort with three seconds remaining.

Allen paced Seattle with 34 points while Bryant had 32. Former Sonic Gary Payton, playing in Seattle for the first time as a member of the Lakers, added 24.
