Playing status of Roberson still in limbo

TEMPE, Ariz., Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Ell Roberson may have has at least one believer -- Kansas State Athletic Director Tim Weiser.

He issued a statement saying that a thorough review of allegations against the senior quarterback has led the school to conclude that no criminal act occurred. Roberson was identified as a suspect in an alleged sexual assault said to have taken place in a motel in suburban Phoenix, Ariz.

No arrests have been made.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reported a police officer as saying Roberson, 23, said he had consensual sex with the 22-year-old woman.

"The university views this situation very seriously and has been working closely with law enforcement throughout this investigation," Weiser said. "We look forward to an expeditious resolution."

KSU players had an 11 p.m. curfew Wednesday. If Roberson violated curfew, he would be subject to being benched for an undetermined period, but no disciplinary action as announced.

The Wildcats play Ohio State Friday night in the Fiesta Bowl at Tempe.
