COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Evgeni Nabokov made 26 saves and Alyn McCauley scored with 4:59 left Wednesday night as San Jose blanked Columbus, 1-0.

The Sharks extended their unbeaten streak to six games.

San Jose improved to 5

1 in its last six games as Nabokov recorded his fourth shutout of the season. Both goaltenders had their moments through the first two periods before the Sharks broke through.

Nils Ekman slid a pass to the high slot to a wide-open McCauley, whose shot slid through Denis' pads for the game's lone goal. It was McCauley's 10th goal of the season and first in six games.

Columbus was blanked for the fourth time this season and has lost six straight at home -- all by one goal.
