CALGARY, Alberta, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Goaltender Miika Kiprusoff of Calgary is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks with a sprained left MCL.

He suffered the injury early in Monday's 2-2 tie with Minnesota, but played the entire game. An MRI taken Tuesday revealed the injury.

"I came up fast and I felt something in my knee," Kiprusoff said. "I felt it right away. I figured I could play the rest of the game. This is not fun. It's tough. I just have to do what I have to do and work hard to get ready to play again."

Kiprusoff, 27, acquired from San Jose for a 2005 second-round draft pick on Nov. 16, has gone 11-3-2 with a .941 save percentage and 1.48 goals-against average. He began the 2002-03 season as the Sharks' No. 1 goalie when Evgeni Nabokov held out for a new contract.

He entered this season with just 14 wins in 47 career games.

Also, rookie center Blair Betts will be out indefinitely because of a shoulder injury.
