KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Tennessee Coach Phillip Fulmer, who led the team to a 15th straight bowl appearance, Tuesday got a contract extension through 2010.
Fulmer guided Tennessee to a 10-2 record and a tie for first place in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division, its fifth division title in 11 years. The Volunteers, who won the national championship in 1998, face Clemson in the Peach Bowl on Jan. 2.
"The latest extension and raise for Phillip is an indication of our recognition of his status as one of the nation's elite college coaches, as well as the successes of the 2003 Volunteers' team," Tennessee Director of Athletics Mike Hamilton
Fulmer's contract contains a base salary of $275,00 with raudio and television commitments worth $729,500 and eindorsements and special event appearances totaling $575,000. Deferred income totaling $1.05 million is payable to Fulmer at the completion of three more years or on Dec. 31, 2006.
