NHL: NY Islanders 3, New Jersey 1

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Mark Parrish had two goals and Garth Snow 28 saves Monday as the New York Islanders' win streak went to five games with a 3-1 triumph over New Jersey.

It was the Islanders' third victory over the defending Stanley Cup champions in 14 days.

New York started its longest winning streak of the season on Dec. 21 with a victory over Washington. The Islanders' last four wins have come against the top three teams in the Eastern Conference.

Parrish has scored in each of the last three games and all but one during the streak. He gave New York a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal 6:31 into the opening period, then capped the scoring off a give-and-go with Dave Scatchard with 52 seconds to go in the second.

Kenny Jonsson also scored for the Islanders.

The Devils got a second-period goal from Grant Marshall.
