ARLINGTON, Texas, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- The Texas Rangers have signed injury-plagued outfielder Brian Jordan to a one-year contract.
Jordan played in just 66 games with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season before undergoing left knee surgery on July 11. He hit .299 with six homers and 28 RBI.
"This is a guy who has succeeded everywhere he has been," said General Manager John Hart. "He is a good player both offensively and defensively and has played on winning teams for most of his career."
Jordan, a 12-year veteran, started his career with St. Louis in 1992 before moving to Atlanta in 1999. He also played football with the Atlanta Falcons and spent three seasons with the Braves before he was traded to the Dodgers.
The Rangers also indicated that they are close to signing outfielder David Dellucci, who played for Manager Buck Showalter at Arizona from 1998-2000. Dellucci split time last season with Arizona and the New York Yankees.
