ATLANTA, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Ronald Petrovicky had his second multi-goal game of the season and Ilya Kovalchuk his league-leading 21st goal Sunday as Atlanta beat Philadelphia, 4-1.
With just one win in its previous six contests, Philadelphia entered Philips Arena with a 6
1 mark in its last seven visits. But the Flyers fell behind early, thanks to a miscue by Jeff Hackett.
The goaltender lost control of the puck behind his own net, allowing Petrovicky to get it in front for an easy tap-in just 89 seconds into the game.
After John LeClair drew the Flyers even with a power-play tally early in the second, Petrovicky completed his third career two-goal effort midway through the period, giving Atlanta a 2-1 advantage.
Coming off a four-point night in Pittsburgh, Vyacheslav Kozlov increased the lead three minutes later. Kovalchuk sealed the victory with 17 seconds left in the third.
