BOSTON, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Kevin Weekes made 36 saves and Radim Vrbata and rookie Eric Staal scored Saturday to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins.

Ron Francis, Jeff O'Neill and defenseman Bob Boughner each collected an assist as the Hurricanes won consecutive games for only the second time this season.
Glen Murray scored his 11th goal on the power play at 9:40 of the third period to stop Boston's home scoreless drought at 147 minutes, 55 seconds. The Bruins are winless in their last seven at home (0-4-3-0) and have just one win in their last nine overall (1-4-4-0).
