Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CLEVELAND, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Cleveland declined to tender contracts to righthander Danys Baez and lefthander Carl Sadler on Saturday, allowing them to become free agents.
After opening the 2003 campaign as the Indians' closer, Baez lost the job late in the season. Cleveland declined to exercise the $5 million option on Baez's contract after the season and sent him to Class AAA Buffalo before purchasing his contract a week later.
The 26-year-old Cuban posted a 2-9 record with 25 saves and a 3.81 ERA in 73 games last season. In 155 career contests, including 26 starts, he is 17-23 with 31 saves and a 3.92 ERA.
Sadler, 27, made 18 appearances with Cleveland in 2003, posting a 1.86 ERA. In 42 career games, he is 1-2 with a 3.60 ERA.
