LOS ANGELES, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- T.J. Cummings scored 13 points Saturday to lead the UCLA Bruins to a 64-58 victory over the 25th-ranked Michigan State Spartans.
With more than 60 former UCLA players on hand, the school renamed the court "Nell and John Wooden Court," in honor of
92-year-old Coach John Wooden, who won 10 national championships at UCLA, and his late wife.
The Bruins (4-2) ended the first half with an 8-2 spurt to take a 29-28 lead, then seized control early in the second half and increased its advantage to 45-37 on freshman Trevor Ariza's jumper with 14:54 remaining.
Michigan State (4-5) closed to 55-50 on Chris Hill's 3-pointer with 8:54 remaining, but missed four 3-pointers and went scoreless for 5 1/2 minutes.
Hill and Paul Davis each scored 14 points for Michigan State.
