
NORMAN, Okla., Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Freshman Drew Lavender had 23 points Saturday afternoon as eighth-ranked Oklahoma won its 30th straight non-conference game, 68-46, over Jackson State.
The 5-7, 155-pound Drew shot 7-of-12 from the field, including two three-pointers. On Tuesday, he became the first freshman to win the Big 12 Player of the Week honors after averaging 13.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.0 rebounds in wins over Purdue and Prairie View A&M last week.
Jason Detrick added 12 points and Jabahri Brown pulled down 10 rebounds for the Sooners (8-0), who have not lost a non-conference home game since a loss to Cincinnati on Dec. 22, 1999.
Oklahoma, which is 4-0 all time against Jackson State, is off to its best start since the 1999-00 squad began 9-0.
Ishmael Joyce scored 13 points, Aaron Gilliom 11, and Leonard Taylor grabbed 11 rebounds for the Tigers (2-5), who slipped to 1-5 on their eight-game road trip.
