The Flyers have just four regulation losses, and three have been against the Devils and Ottawa Senators, teams Hitchcock considers his main obstacles to winning the NHL Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia peppered Brodeur with 40 shots and rallied for a 3-3 tie Friday to maintain its six-point lead over the Devils in the Atlantic Division.

In this one, the Devils managed just one shot in the first period and five more before Marshall scored his first goal in 17 games and second as a Devil with 9:35 remaining in the second.

Marshall played nearly six seasons for Hitchcock in Dallas.

Brodeur collected his 71st career shutout and second in three games.
