Hopkins, 38, became the first undisputed middleweight champion in 14 years, when he posted a TKO over Felix Trinidad in September 2001.

Joppy has won two fights since getting stopped in the fifth round by Trinidad in May 2001.

Also, Ricardo Mayorga (26-3-1, 22 KOs), who holds the WBA and WBC welterweight belts, will face IBF champion Cory Spinks (31-2, 11 KOs); Brooklyn native Zab Judah (29-1, 21 KOs) defends his WBO belt against Jaime Rangel; and a pair of former champions will square off for the interim WBA heavyweight title when Hasim Rahman (35-4-1, 29 KOs) takes on John Ruiz (38-5-1, 27 KOs).

The winner will become the mandatory challenger to Roy Jones Jr.
