Woods named PGA Tour Player of the Year

PONTE VEDRA, Fla., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods, who did not win a major or the money title for the first time since 1998, Monday was voted PGA Tour Player of the Year by his peers.

In winning the honor for the fifth straight year, Woods bested Vijay Singh of Fiji. The 27-year-old Woods led the tour with five victories and captured the Vardon Trophy with a 68.41 scoring average.

The 40-year-old Singh won four times and captured the money title with $7.5 million, $900,000 more than Woods.
